Bereavement Support

At St. John Fisher Catholic Primary School we understand that life presents challenges, much like unexpected storms. That’s why we are dedicated to guiding our children and young people through these difficult times, supporting them with resilience, hope, and care.

In our nurturing environment, supported by a team of committed staff and grounded in strong values, every child has the foundation to face life’s difficulties. Just as a rainbow emerges after a storm, we strive to help each child discover their inner strength and look forward to brighter days ahead.

Together, we empower our pupils to grow, thrive, and shine—no matter the storms they encounter.

 Rainbows Support Programme

Did you know that one in every 29 children in school has experienced the loss of a parent or sibling? This is equivalent to one child in every classroom. With even higher rates of divorce and separation affecting children, many can feel sad, anxious, or isolated.
Bereavement and loss, if left unsupported, may impact children’s ability to engage with learning and achieve in school.

That’s where Rainbows, our bereavement and loss support program, comes in. It provides children with a safe, nurturing space to share their feelings with peers who understand what they’re going through. By connecting with others who have experienced similar loss, pupils no longer feel alone in their grief. This helps to strengthen their self-esteem, boost their confidence, and empowers them to fully engage in school life, ultimately supporting them to reach their full potential.

At St. John Fisher, we are here to walk alongside every child, helping them find hope, healing, and strength for the journey ahead.

If you would like to discuss this support, please contact the school office who will be able to direct your questions to the correct adult.
