Year 6 Wow Day
Today Year 6 had a fantastic Wow Day, where they explored VE Day and the experiences of evacuation during the Second World War.
Throughout the day, students engaged in various activities, including creating evacuation labels and packing suitcases, which helped them appreciate the realities faced by children during that period. We also learnt about Operation Mincemeat, sparking interesting discussions on wartime strategies.
As part of our creative exploration, students produced watercolour paintings of the countryside, reminiscent of the landscapes seen during evacuations. We concluded the day with a VE Day party, enjoying the no-bake flapjacks made earlier.
Todays’ immersive experience significantly enriched our curriculum, and we encourage you to continue the conversation about these historical events at home.
