Welcome to St Rose of Lima Class Page

A warm welcome to St Rose of Lima class! We are delighted to embark on the academic journey with you and your child in our happy and welcoming Year 1/2 setting. Our curriculum is rich and diverse, filled with exciting topics that ignite curiosity and inspire a love for learning.

We begin our year with the captivating theme of 'Life Down Under', where students will explore the unique landscapes, animals, and cultures of Australia. Following this, we eagerly transition to the enthralling topic of 'Fire! Fire!', which will engage our young learners in understanding the significance of fire in both nature and human history.

As we move throughout the year, I am genuinely looking forward to getting to know each child personally and creating precious memories that will last a lifetime. I am equally excited to form strong partnerships with you, as we collaborate in supporting your child's learning journey.

Please remember, we are always here to talk, and there is no such thing as a silly question. Your involvement and communication are vital in fostering a positive learning environment.

Thank you for your support, and here’s to a fantastic year ahead!

Food for Fitness.
Year 1/2 learn together explore the common benefits of having a healthy diet, growing their own food and understanding how plants and crops grow and survive, looking at where and why they grow in these places.  The Cool Kids Cook guides them on their way, teaching them how to cook and how to write their own instructions, giving them a chance to cook some of their own healthy choices.  Through mono-printing they create their own images of the wonderful animals/fruit they discover and study Barbara Hepworth's beautiful natural sculptures. By learning the friendship song and the real opera 'The Magic Flute' in music they understand better how we care and respect one another. Finally, in computing they learn to programme the Micro-bits and communicate safely through the internet.
