Welcome to St Francis Class Page
"Let all that you do be done in love.” – 1 Corinthians 16:14

Welcome to our Year 3 Class Page at St. John Fisher! We are so excited to begin this new school year with you and your child. Year 3 is a special time of growth – academically, socially, and spiritually – and I feel blessed to be part of your child’s journey.
At the heart of everything we do in Year 3 are our school values:
Love of Self, Love of God, and Love of Others.
Love of Self reminds us that each child is created in the image of God, with unique gifts and talents to be celebrated. In our classroom, we nurture self-belief, confidence, and a love of learning.
Love of God guides us in prayer, reflection, and faith-filled learning. Through daily prayer, liturgies, and Religious Education, we deepen our relationship with Jesus and learn how to live as His followers.
Love of Others shapes the way we treat each other – with kindness, respect, and compassion. We work together as a community, support one another, and look for ways to serve those in need.
This Year in Year 3:
Your child will experience a rich and engaging curriculum that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and a love of learning. Some of the highlights include:
- Exploring exciting topics in English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and the Arts
- Deepening our understanding of Scripture and Catholic traditions
- Participating in school Masses, liturgical celebrations, and acts of service
- Developing important skills in collaboration, resilience, and responsibility
If you ever have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I’m looking forward to a wonderful year ahead!
May God bless our learning, our friendships, and our journey together in Year 3.
With warmth and blessings,
Miss King

Well, it is time to continue down the time line! In Year 2 we have enjoyed exploring prehistory now it is time to journey further into the amazing period in which one country ruled the known world and that was the ROMANS!
During this topic we will learn how the Romans grew their empire and what were the consequences of taking over other countries. Britain was also part of this empire – we will learn how the Romans arrived at our shores, how they conquered Britain and what did the local Celtic tribes make of these new invaders. We will also be looking into the relationship between the Roman governors to Britain and one special Celtic leader – Queen Boudicca leader of the Iceni tribe who battled with the Romans in the cities of Colchester, London and St Albans.
We will learn about every day Roman life through exploring artefacts, maps, books and researching. We will have the opportunity to continue our skills in writing by exploring free verse poetry and Roman fables. Why not try having a go at designing, creating and making your own Roman pizza? These fantastic creations will be the inspiration for our instructional writing.
We have already mentioned that the Romans came from a different country – do you know what that country is? It’s ITALY!
Maybe you have been there? We will be finding out about this fantastic country and answering questions such as.....where in the world is it? What is it like? Where is our country in relation to Italy? What food do they eat? What type of plants grow there as the climate is so different to ours. To do all this learning we will be using our map skills to find out the location of this fantastic country, find out about the main cities in Italy and compare them with our capital city. In science we will be exploring our natural world by looking at the role and function of plants and what requirements they need to grow. We will also be learning about pollination and the key role it plays in the process of the life cycle of plants.
What an action packed term awaits us!
