Welcome to St josephine / St Peter + Paul class page
As we embark on an exciting new academic year, I am delighted to welcome you and your children to Year 6. This year holds significant importance as it is our final year of primary education, and we aim to make it a memorable one filled with meaningful learning experiences and enjoyable activities.
Across our year group, we are honoured to have adopted St Josephine Bakhita and St. Peter and Paul as our class saints. St Josephine's commitment to justice and compassion is an inspiring model for our students, and we look forward to embedding her values in our daily learning and interactions.
As part of our journey through Year 6, we have many exciting educational adventures planned, including a residential trip to PGL. This experience will not only provide our children with the opportunity to engage in various outdoor and team-building activities but will also promote personal growth and the development of lifelong skills. Further details regarding the dates and arrangements will be shared with you soon.
I encourage parents to maintain an open line of communication with us throughout the year. Your involvement is invaluable, and we appreciate any support you can provide, whether you have skills to share or simply words of encouragement. Should you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Thank you for your continued support, and here’s to a year filled with learning, fun, and adventure!

Peace
Our topic explores the historical time of the two World Wars and how communities came together in the search for Peace. Our computing searching skills will be put to the test as we search for evidence from the past and begin to understand the way people lived and consider whether war really is justified. Through a closer look at maps in geography we will understand how borders can change in times of war and the impact on people’s communities. In art we will study how art can be used to spread a message and compare it to the use of propaganda used during times of war. During our science we will discover how sound travels to our ears and think about the impact of the sounds of war on the communities where people once lived. Of course, along the way we will read some fabulous books set in that time, explore some poetry of the battlefield and sing some war songs to lift our spirits and consider how music can make us happy including jazz a music form developed in the last century at the time of our study.
